Day six of Froguary!
Meet His royal majesty Hoppert Francis Winslow Ribbert the fourteenth. The prince comes from a long line of Ribbert’s, and not too long ago he was cursed by a witch in the woods because his father (Hoppert Francis Winslow Ribbert the thirteenth) forgot to invite her to his Christening. He didn’t have enough golden plates for all the fairy ladies of the forest. He only had 12, and there were 13 fairies. He knew he couldn’t serve her on silver- perish the thought- and knew she would be offended to eat off anything but the gold. It was just a rumor that the fairy witch was still in the forest after all- so the fool risked her wrath in the hopes that she was gone! Alas, his son paid the penalty for his lack of foresight, and embarrassing numbers of golden plates. He’s been a frog for a while now, and mostly doesn’t mind- although the moss that has started growing all over his body has become a slight nuisance. At least it helps him camouflage from the birds, even if sometimes it gets tangled in the brush. Not long ago he had a really close scrape with an owl… Anyway, Hoppert Francis Winslow Ribbert the fourteenth is waiting for the right princess to come along and give him a kiss to break his spell- or to throw him hard against a wall, depending on which version you’re reading. Either way, it’ll do the job.
